Sunday morning I go out and get my gelding to ride, open the gate and he walks about 30 feet to me, don't see anything wrong with him. Lead him thru the gate, to the trailer maybe another 40 feet, still do not see anything that makes me do a double take. Brush him down, saddle him up, put his bell boots on and hop on, takes a step, then another step and he feels ouchie somewhere in the front. hop off and lead him, little ouchie 2 steps and then OUCHIE to the point he doesn't want to walk down the small decline to the lower field, obviously uncomfortable being turned to his left and suddenly wanting to point his right foot. He has full poly pads on with equipad filer underneath due to some bad shoeing a few years ago, he is a big horse with thin walls and we just decided to keep pads on him and not mess with the bruising. Checked his legs again, no heat, no swelling anywhere. Finace came down and got him as he walked him to the front yard Tucker got a little worse each step and again, wanted to stand with his foot pointed . I unsaddled him, cold hosed him, checked for heat an swelling again, nothing. Not in his legs, not in his shoulder, not in his feet. Checked to make sure there was no nail hole or something in the pad. Dave hung out with him while I got another horse ridden and by the time I went to get Tucker again he was about 50% better and by the afternoon you could only see it when you turned him hard to the left a very slight hesitation. Still no heat Monday and yesterday. Hopped on him last night bareback and cannot feel any soreness but I believe I can hear a difference in the cadence at a trot, slight but to me, there.
I have a bioscan appt. for him tonight but is it possible I pinched him with the Ortho pad ? I remember throwing it on and as I put the saddle on thinking "It looks a little too far forward..." but didn't adjust it. It is an Ed Wright Ortho pad I've use on him for about 10 months, just wondering if by placing it on his shoulder slightly I could have cause this....

If he is pointing a foot, I would say something in his foot. Hot nail turned into an abscess and you are at the beginning.

Thrush that has gotten under the frog

Caudal heel pain from contracted heels
