| Ephesians 5:15-16 Be careful how you live, not as fools but a those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity.
Opportunity is derived from the Latin term Opportunus, which denoted " favorable winds." Because such winds were advantages to ships seeking harbor , opportunus came to mean, " coming at a convenient time.
Many people look back upon their lives as a series of missed opportunities. Are you one of them?
We cannot change the past , nor can we waste the present by lamenting over how many times we've allowed the winds of opportunity to pass us by. Don't let yourself become mired in the "would've- could've- should've mode. Take the following steps to ensure that you make the most of every opportunity in the future.
First; pray for creative vision. Take your ideas to Jesus, the One by whom, ALL things were created, visible and invisible. Colossians 1:16 In Jesus name pray for Christ's creative power to flow into every situation we encounter. His name truly creates. Creativity is defined as " the combining of two separate ideas to form a totally new idea. Therefore, when we pray in Jesus name, and present our ideas to Christ He combines them with His creative genius which results in the birth of altogether ne ideas. Jesus is just waiting for you to prayerfully present your thoughts, drams, and ideas to Him.
Second: listen expectantly. After praying , be still, open your mind, and EXPECT God to speak to you. James 1:5-6 When you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is an unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Third: pay attention to what is around you. People who see opportunity in things where others see nothing , people whose senses are alive to creative possibilities . Keep your eyes open to the creative possibilities around you.
Fourth: be resourceful. Sometimes , when God is calling us into a certain area, we need to make our own opportunities. If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.
And last, have courage. Too many people are thinking of security, instead of opportunity. They seem more afraid of life than death. Sometimes it seems easier to stay anchored in the place where we feel the most comfortable. But that place may not be where God wants us to be. Deuteronomy 1:6-7 Courage is need to set sail into unknown waters.
Don't let your ship of life rot in dry dock. PRAY for creative vision, expect God to speak to you, be resourceful, and then courageously set sail, confident that God has given you the ability and gifts to take advantage of every opportunity He affords you. Through it all, remember that you are never alone. God and His creative wisdom will be with you throughout your voyage, steering you through every ocean of life!
Proverbs 4:10-13 Listen, my son, and accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction. do not let it go, guard it well, for it is your life.
Lord, I want to do what You created me to do. I come to You today, seeking your direction for my life. I have my own ideas of how You want me to serve You, to enlarge Your kingdom here on earth, to provide for myself, my family. But I need Your wisdom. Which route should I take? When shall I begin? How shall I go? Lead me , Lord, into the waters You have chartered for my life. AMEN
Guide me always to bring glory and honor to You.
