Carbs and gluten are the DEVIL!

If you haven't already, I recommend you read "Wheat Belly" by Dr. Davis, and "Grain Brain" by Dr. Perlmutter

I think when I tried doing Atkins before I did the 'old' version and didn't really understand how to eat on it.  You can eat most vegtables even in phase 1.  I eat tons of spinach, leafy greens, bell peppers, tomatoes... etc. Pay attention to sauces used.  I will go weeks where I might even go up a lb, I weigh on a digital scale first thing every morning and it's irritating to be busting your butt and see no changes.

It's generally late when I get in the house at night.  Dinner is often 2 slices of cheese and a glass of merlot.

I'm just not willing to give up the bits of time I can steal to ride/haul my horses to go to the gym.  I know it would make things work faster, but I need my time at home.  I challenge anyone to consitently carve out 6-7 hours of workout time when they're gone for work 12-13 hours a day....plus riding competitively.   I do spend a lot of time doing yard work on wknds....we have a big yard and a push mower.  I count that!

You don't need to diet, read books, buy wraps, shakes, or pills. Just eat veggies, fruits, and proteins. Get rid of all of the junk food in your house. Surround yourself with things that are sold on the perimiders of grocery stores. You will need to exercise also. Start with 30 minutes three days a week. Weights are your friend. When you lift weights, you burn more calories, and that burn LASTS longer.

Yes that is true, but even when you do that, i.e. eat right, exercise, whatever and the weight still doesn't budge..then what. I'm not giving up. It was just way easier when I was younger. I don't even eat half of what I used to eat and could still lose. Seems like went I hit the menopause years, everything just slowed down. I used to ride my own horses plus train outside horses as well and still worked 8 hours outside of the home. Can't do that now.

yes...agree about metabolism issues. Where is a pill for that lol! I wanted to take the garcinia cambogia and ordered a bunch...then I learned it can have some dangerous side effects when taken with Lipitor. That stinks because it really did seem to help me have the energy to stay more active without feeling like I was running on empty as I feel now. :-(

I just read something about metabolism on twitter.  Something to do with cardio, heart rate, and what you do AFTER your cardio is what makes the difference.  Now I cant remember where I put it.

Also, I stay away from fruits.  Fruits produce natural sugars and my body can't handle that.  I also can't eat more than one or two nuts a day either (my digestive sytem can't tolerate it).  I have a 6 inch scar running from my sternum through my belly button and have some very serious digestive issues that have forced me to pay very close attention to what foods trigger what and how much I can eat and when.

For instance, I don't eat dinner anymore unless for a reason (family is in town, special occasion, etc).  I have found if I eat after about 4pm, my digestive system has a bad reaction.  It is amazing what you will learn about yourself when you look at how foods (especially processed foods) react with your body.

sassy&tessa... yikes...I eat lots of fruit in summer and lots of almonds too. One thing I recently did was switch to almond soy milk. But then I indulge in ice cream once a week. You know putting this all down on paper makes me realize I've picked up some very bad eating habits. Now I can't help but wonder if the food alone is sapping my energy...maybe like a constant carb low. I eat lots of subway veggie sandwiches too. Just the veggies thinking it was healthy...their bread isn't real heavy I don't think.

Oh I hear ya on the digestive issue stuff. I cannot and I mean cannot tolerate peanuts and most nuts. It really does a number on me. Found that out the hard way. I can tolerate most fruits in moderation. I just have this feeling of fullness all the time. One thing I have added more of is fiber.

Most fruits are high in sugar (carbs) so while some fruits are okay, it's best to limit to those on the lower end of the glycemic index.

Might want to re-evaluate those sandwiches....not only would they put me to sleep, but I would blow up on them.  Almonds are great, if you can be really disciplined and not eat the whole bag.  I'm not at a point that I allow myself to eat any nuts.  Fruits are high in sugar...they're out for now as well.  Every 2-3 wks we will go out and I'll have 1 meal of whatever I want..then it's back to the grind.

Track EVERYTHING you put into your body; there are a lot of good apps out there to help you with this. I used to use myfitnesspal.com

You might be surprised how quickly some stuff can add up.
