You should be equally concerned about fat and protein.

I've gotten to the point where I feed only rice bran and alfalfa pellets. If I feel like someone is needing more calories, they get a couple pounds of Ultium to go with it. Works for me. Everyone is also getting free choice coastal.

1 lb rice bran 2x daily.
3 lbs alfalfa pellets 2x daily.

Optional:
1-2 lbs Ultium 2x daily.

I have a super easy keeper getting 15 lbs of coastal, 2 cups of rice bran, plus DePaulo supplements and the recommended amount of Purina SuperSport protein supplement.

Everyone gets Forco and DePaulo Excel.

Pretty happy ponies. This has been easier on my pocket book as well.

Anything stabilized. MannaPro is the most common. I'd like to be able to get Renew Gold, but it's 48 dollars a bag here.

What do you mean you have no grass? Forage is REALLY IMPORTANT in a horses diet. You should be rounding out Protein, Fat, Folage and Fiber. Not just one.
