The Resident Destroyer of Liberal Logic
Location: PNW | So... This afternoon I loaded my trusty steed onto my friend's trailer and let him go to his new home in her barn :(
He's my 100% honest all-around horse. Runs barrels, poles, ropes both ends and break away, drags bulls in on the ranch, and packs little kids like a carousel horse. I bought him green broke and did every stitch of his training from there out.
It was a tough decision to sell, but with two little guys and a colt that will need seasoned over the next year - Buster was just going to not get much job time. And he loves a job more than anything. My friend that bought him is an older gal who needed something 100% safe and sane to take to jackpots and just go have fun with, and takes IMMACULATE care of her horses. It really is the best decision for him, but it is still hard. I'm just glad he will still be local, so I can be readily available to help her if she needs it, and I'll get to see his handsome brown face around all the time. But it's still so hard :( We did agree that if she ever wants to sell him - he comes STRAIGHT back to me, mostly because I want my boys to be able to learn from him more than anything.
Sorry to just vent, but my husband is getting tired of hearing me talk - I think.
I'm going back to my cheese.... And wish I had some wine.... |

Aww hugs. I know how hard it is to let a good one go. It still hurts sometimes. At least he's going to a friend that you know will provide a good home, and not some random stranger. |

Yea, lucky for me, he is staying local and the gal that bought him takes immaculate care of her horses and treats them like the children she never gave birth to. He will be more spoiled there than he was at my house, PLUS he will get hauled lots and get to go strut around - which has NOT been happening at my house with me being pregnant.
And when I bring my colt home, I'll have him to focus on. And I KNOW that on bad "colt days" I'd choose to ride my trusty, easy guy - rather than deal with colt nonsense. So now the temptation won't even be there and my colt will get the attention he needs, even when he is being naughty. I feel like it is a win/win for both horses. |
