How much time would you give off after an injury?

My mare was injured on the weekend of June 7. She got her back left leg caught in a fence and was cut about an inch deep right in the front of her hock in the joint area. I doctor her leg everyday, make sure she has PHT magnets on quite frequently, and feed her platinum CJ. She seems to be healing really fast which I am happy about but I'm wondering how long I should wait before riding again? The wound has refilled with granulation tissue and is now pulling together. Its about 3 to 4 inches across and is an inch to 2 inches at its widest point. The thing I am worried about is that she did cut a tendon so I don't want to try to ride too soon. She still slightly favors it but not really bad and she is a super b&*^% to all the other horses in the pasture. She chases them and trots and runs up and down the pasture. I was wanting to just start sitting on her and walking in the round pen and whatnot to work on getting back to riding. What do you all think? On Saturday it will have been eight weeks since the incident.

Every injury is different. No one on this board can tell you when to start riding your horse. I would suggest getting a vet perform a lameness exam once you think the wound has physically healed. If you see her still favoring the leg, it is NOT healed. My mare got caught in our fence last year and I gave her eight months to completely recover. You dont want to bring a horse back to soon to risk a career ending injury. Time for healing is necessary. ETA: If a tendon was injured, I would suggest at least half a year off minimum. Thats a very serious injury. Leave the horse alone and let her have the time off she needs. You are rushing something that doesnt need to be rushed.

If the horse is favouring the leg at all I wouldn't be riding.
As someone else said. I would have taken the horse to the vet to get their expert opinion on the damages done, and recovery time.

Have your vet out to do a lameness eval on your horse.
If there's any signs of lameness, then you shouldn't be riding yet.
We can't answer your question over the internet. Your horse needs to be examined.
My old horse had to have a YEAR off for his injury. Red only had to have about 2 1/2 months off for his injury.

You can never do damage by giving too much time off, but can do damage that may not be fixable by working a horse too soon off an injury.
If a tendon was involved I would come up with a game plan through your vet.
Longevity is what matters!!
