For a lameness vet who do you all prefer? Marty Tanner at Elgin? Josh Harvey at Outlaw? Doc Ford(if you can find him)

Does Tanner run pretty high in prices?

Ditto, I love how he puts his hands all over your horse looking for soreness before he watches them move.  He is very thorough.  He has been taking care of my horses for years.

Josh Harvey... Cannot say enough good things about him and his operation. Has gone over every horse head to toe no matter what they were brought in for. Great people and facility.

Exactly! I practically live there, wouldn't be surprised if we've talked before! My horses always have something wrong and my filly was born there this April!

Side note - also love Chad Marsh at A&M. He did my geldings MRI and was very thorough at explaining everything!

I have tried many vets in Texas and all of my horses now get once overs by Dr. Tanner once a year at a minimum.  And I no longer mess around with anything.  If I don't have a good idea of what is going on with my horse, they are going straight to Dr. Tanner.  He is one of the best vets I have ever dealt with (I am a born and raised Californian and dealt with a lot of vets over there).

He is reasonable too.  One of the things I love about him is if it is going to be a process, he will tell you right up front what kind of cost you are going to incur.  My one mare had surgery and when we were discussing options, he told me exactly how much it would cost for the surgery, layover there at the clinic, etc.  She ended up staying 8 days longer and the price was still the same.

Grasshopper spent 8 weeks with him (15 weeks total at a vet hospital that I won't name) and he told me he was going to do everything he could to save him and he would help me with the cost and he held true to that.  We would get the bill and there would be all sorts of things crossed out or adjusted.  I have yet to tell anyone how much that bill was and them actually believe it.

Dr. Tanner is a no BS guy.  So if you are looking for a vet that will sugar coat things or ONLY look at a specific spot because that is what you said, he is not the vet for you.  He listens to you and asks questions, but he is going to be thorough.  That is why he is so good.  Also why so many pros use him.

I can't say enough great things about him.  Truly.  I just wish it wasn't a 4 hour drive to see him.

Heres another list:

Dr. James Hall, Dayton
Dr. Matt Randall or Dr. Collier Waller
Dr. Ford
Of course you still have Honna's,
Tanner, and Hays,
Some are harder to get into so take your pick, They are all good.

GOOD LUCK!

I use Dr. Tanner.  I thought his prices were very reasonable when he did surgery on my stud.
I have a friend that uses Wes Williams and she thinks very highly of him.
