We are building a run in shed and would like to build it on a gravel pad. What suggestions do you have? What type of gravel would you use? Any suggestions appreciated!

Thank you!

No abcesses with pea gravel.  It is large enough that it doesn't get under the shoes but small enough that you have no risk of bruising.  We do it 5 inches deap.  We also do the limestone screanings under it, just to keep it from disapearing into the mud under it.  The pea gravel is super easy to clean the crap out of with a fork.   Easy to keep clean, keeps feet dry and in perfect condition.

1/4" down...tell them "Quarter Down" at the quarry. Put it about 5 inches deep after you already have a really solid hard base. It packs nicely but not too hard. Easy to pick with a fork and rain washes it clean of urine if its on a slight slope. I love it!

I'm going to be building one next month. Do you have any plans you're using for yours that you wouldn't mind sharing? I'm totally new to building one! I was thinking about pea gravel with mats on top...what do you think? That way all the urine that seals through the cracks in-between the mats, doesn't just sit under them in the dirt and get muddy.
