Dyeing boots?

I just scored a super cheap pair of tony lama buckaroo boots! Only thing is they are white topped and I'm just not sure how I feel about rocking the white tops, which will eventually become brown and gross anyway
Has anybody ever successfully dyed a pair of boots? And if so does the color rub off over time? I'm thinking of testing a small area of the boot but haven't gotten brave enough yet.
I'm also hoping that the white will grow on me lol

hobby horse has a dyeing kit in their most recent magazine
ETA: I have used it before only for showmanship so my boots didnt see a lot of action but the color stayed well

RE: Dyeing boots?
Tandy Leather has leather dye that is easy to apply and won't crack. You can order online if there isn't a store near you.
