EmtRoper - 2014-08-20 3:35 PM I really like my Discover Card for the credit score, I like it so I can know if anything fishy is going on. Plus I LOVE that all their offices are based in the United States so I can actually understand what they are saying.
 Question about this....
When they check your credit every month is that affecting your credit? Because normally every inquiry is a 'hit' to your credit.Â
No, they have a disclosure on their site about they way they are doing is not considered a "hard hit" like it would be if you were applying for a loan or such. |

I shop a lot of local businesses and many of them seem to have a significant aura of concern about whether you use credit or debit card for your purchase.
I wish stores would charge a small fee for the option of using a credit card and keep the prices of merchandise down for the people that don't want to use credit cards. It is the evolution of retail and business. People rarely use cash anymore. The businesses need to expect and budget for the expense associated with people paying them with cards.
I believe there is a difference in the amount of fee they pay for each, though - that is what more than one business has told me. |

Each type of card charges different fees (i.e. Visa compared to AmEx). The rate structures a business pays for accepting credit cards can cause their rates to differ based on whether it's debit, credit, or credit with rewards card. Businesses with higher card volume pay lower fees. So if you are talking to a locally owed store, then yes they most like are experiencing the higher rates and seeing fluctuations when it's a credit card with rewards. |

Oh yes, no I pay my balances off every month, I am anal about that. But that is why I hate using a credit card I am not getting any rewards off of! I have thought about getting
I have thought about getting an airlines reward credit card, but then no where we fly to do we use the same airline :( Heck just the remaining of this year we are using Alligiant, US Airways, American, and then probably Southwest....
I'm reading that the Capital One Venture cards miles can be used on any airline. Same with some other cards.
For those of you with this card, how does that work? I use Southwest a lot. How do you use your miles when booking a flight? |

I was thinking the Capital One Venture card sounded really good until I saw that there is an annual fee of $59 after the first year :(
Edited: Nevermind, the plain Venture does have the annual fee, but the Venture ONE does not....

| I do not have the Capital one venture card but I have a quicksilver rewards card that is simply an emergency card that is tucked away in the trailer in case of multiple blowouts or something. What we liked about that one is that it let you use your cash back as credit back onto your account and has a zero annual fee |

Location: Phoenix | I keep getting CC offers in the mail....mostly from Discover and Capital One......was leaning towards the Discover if I were to apply because of the credit score thing....but I know discover isn't as widely accepted.....
I have a Southwest visa card that earns points for southwest flights OR I can redeem them for other merchandise. |
