What does everyone use for ulcers? Does anyone use aloe vera? If so how much and how does that compare to other treatments?
I had my mare on Assureguard which helped but now that is off you can tell her ulcers are acting up. If i have to will buy more assureguard but was wondering what else people have had good luck with. No she has not been scoped but you can tell she has them and when they are acting up.

I'm about to try GastoPlus from Total Health Enhancement. I have heard nothing but good from it. They have research on their website from ulcer cases that is really cool to read up on. I go through Krystal Peterson (Wyomingbarrelracer) and she MUCH cheaper than the website and extremely helpful. I have used their other products for other reasons and have had beautiful results so I don't see why this one wouldn't work :)

I had my mare on about a half a cup of aloe vera juice a feeding (can't remember exact amount). She'd been on it for a year and still developed ulcers when I gave her bute orally for two consecutive days plus she had the stress of being away from home for three straight days. I no longer use aloe vera juice (or bute). I put her on omeprazole powder to clear up the ulcers. Now I start her on omeprazole a few days before I run her and it's worked great.

i just attended a seminar put on by merial, and they said aloe vera was a waste of money, it did nothing for ulcers. They had records of scopings to prove the facts of this. ThIs is what i learned in the seminar, it takes as little as 48 hrs for horses to develop ulcers when stalled, and given bute, for injuries etc, They reccommended gastroguard, or ulcerguard to treat the ulcers which is the only FDA approved ulcer treatment out there. Both gastroguard, and ulcerguard are the SAME MEDICATION, only difference is the tubes, one tube measures in ranges and the other measures in weights. HOWEVER, i have a horse that has grade 3 ulcers that i have been feeding assureguard gold and giving omeprazole/remitidine paste to and he is getting better.  It takes 90-120 days for ulcers to heal, then ulcer prone horses must be kept on a preventive. i have taken mine out of compitition for now to let him heal and just letting him be a horse for now, and giving him time to heal. The paste i am giving my horse i have to get through my vet, as you can not get OTC. Hope this helps some.

UlcercureOTC

Aloe vera won't cure ulcers it is merely a stomach acid buffer.
