Location: South | I posted about my lame gelding, and after all the responses decided to order and start to treat for EPM even though he tested negative (which a lot of people said was not a good indicator that he did not have it.) And my gut is still telling me he shows every sign
A few on here had been telling me about Oriquin 10 with great results, but my Vet recommended and is sending something that is a 30 day Oral Suspension and I believe it was called Rebalance. He is also sending folic acid in conjunction.. Has anyone used or heard of this stuff? He said if he responds before the month is up, he would need to be on if for around 3 months, and it was around $150 shipped.

| If you send me a blood test (CBC and Chem Panel) I can look at it a formulate a formula specific to your horses needs.

| the info I was given on the Rebalance is that it does not kill the protozoa, only stops them from reproducing by starving them of folic acid, thus the need for a supplement for your horse. My vet did have me use this for 3-4 months But only after we treated with something else to kill them off initially. dont remember the name of drug, but was a 3 week course of 1x a week stomach tube mixed with dmso. Then the daily Rebalance for several months. This horse is doing well now 2 yrs later. Had one years ago that just did the Rebalance on and he did not respond ended up putting down. But they may have a better formula now, I don't know. |

Location: Bandera, TX | Why does your vet not want to use the Oroquin 10? It is cheap, only 10 days and highly effective. Fixed my horse. |

I'm not sure, he didn't say anything about it- Just said he had the best results with this particular drug and this is the only one he's chosen to have on hand because of it. I am going to give this one a try since it is on it's way, but if I do not see a difference I will ask in greater detail. |

Thank you, thank you. Did not know that info, and I was wondering what the folic acid was for. I guess the only thing I can do is give it a shot for this first month. He said if it is going to work, I should definitely know by the time the 30 days is up. |

Crap. And since I don't know if he even has it for sure, I would want to try something out if it doesn't end up helping knowing these odds. |

Location: where ever my L/Q trl is parked | I used it.... first I used the Marquis for the first 30 days then because I couldn't afford another 2 months of Marquis I use the oral suspension. My vet said it was basically the same stuff. $150 for 30 days was feasible compared to $800, so I did 60 days of oral. Then after that I had the vet do a series of injection to boost her immunity. I'm not sure Rebalance is the same stuff I used since I bought it from a vet clinic that has meds compounded for them. Valley Vet has the Rebalance for $85 and Marquis $799. That was years ago and she is still running barrels.
