Location: NE Texas | I have said it a million times and i'll say it again.....until the juice isn't worth the squeeze, meaning that owners, trainers, and the horses themselves are penalized for a positive test, there will never be a stop to this. Just like the previous trainer getting in trouble for Clenbuterol positives, the owners were easily able to transfer this horse to another stable, and it's business as usual. There is no incentive for owners to seek trainers who are doing things the right way. Even if their horse has a positive test, they can blame the trainer and take the horse to a new barn. It is just as much the owner's responsibility to ensure their horse is running clean as it is that of the trainer, and the owner and the horse shoudl also be penalized in the event of a positive test. Both the horse and owner should also face suspensions. The only way this will ever stop is to make the penalty so bad that it encourages owners to seek out trainers who won't use this stuff. If their horse can't run down the race track and they can't run because they allowed a trainer to give a horse an illegal medication, then that starts to get in their pockets and they will think twice. The penalties should be progressive....three strikes you're out sort of thing. It's time to get someone's attention because this is absolute crap and for those of us who LOVE seeing our horses run down the track and make damn sure they do it clean, it's disgusting. There ARE trainers who do it right.....who aren't all about the almighty dollar.....who will take a stand against this stuff. There are trainers who value good owners with nice horses and who do right by both the horse and you as the owner.
As for the jock who was arrested just before the race, he should receive a lifetime ban too, and the trainer should be looked at really closely as well. What a shame. |

Here it is. They don't show it long enough when the pony horse has to come and drag him along. Then shortly after the trailer comes up behind him. But you can clearly see he's showing signs of tying up, the jockey has to tap him on the butt to get him moving. At least that's what it looked like to me.

| I didn't watch it close enough to notice anything with the horse. I actually think I turned the channel as soon as they crossed the finish line. All I really noticed was all the overgrown grass along the track during the earlier races & how the whole place looked like it needed to be mowed. lol Hope the horse is ok. |
