Have any of you worked for a cutting horse trainer? If so, what rate did you charge? And was it per horse, or per hour?
I'm super excited about this opportunity. Thank y'all in advance.

I did too. I rode by the the horse and charged 10$ a horse. I was also paid hourly to do other things and obviously wasn't paid hourly when I was loping horses. :) I wasn't paid squat but boy howdy did I learn a ton!!

Good Luck!

I worked for a cutting trainer as well, he also paid me per horse, this was years ago though. I believe he paid me $9 per horse I rode each day. And I rode about 10 head a day. I also cleaned stalls, and fed...I was paid a flat rate fee of $300 per week part time for that.

My brother is working for a cutting trainer...$1200/month plus they gave him a little house and feed him breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  They also let him take one of his rope horses and are feeding it for him.

I didn't ride for a cutting trainer but I did for a please horse trainer. It was per horse per ride. I charged $10 a ride per horse. I made a excel sheet on my computer for each horse and would put the date I rode the horse each time.

Worked for two cutters.

Scenario 1 - I was provided room/board. My living area wasn't great, but I didn't spend much time in it anyway. I was given pasture board for one horse, and I was told flat out, they didn't REALLY want to, so not to expect another, or to bring him inside. I rode 6 days a week, all day, and travelled to shows. I made $1500/month, plus tips. I received a 1099 at the end of the year.

Scenario 2 - I rode, cleaned stalls, 6 days a week. Every other day, I received an assistant to clean stalls. I received $7/hr under the table. If you wanted more, you received a 1099.
