Location: Southeast Louisiana | Was told by one person it might be a wart. Anyone ever see anything like this before? It just showed up a couple of weeks ago. There was no cut or anything. It came up on a healthy piece of skin. There is a swirl of hair there, but no skin irritation or anything like that.

| That looks like a sarcoid. YOu will probably have to get it cut out. |

| Could be a sarcoid... I was told to leave them alone unless they are being disturbed by tack. They can spread if you mess with them too much so its best to leave them alone unless you have to remove. |

| Sarcoid, I had a few horses get them after being at the trainers, the vet lasered them off, no blood no mess, healed perfectly |

Thanks for that info! All I knew about it was it was the one thing Vetericyn wasn't working on.
I already have the vet coming, tho. I will try the vitamin E on the spot after it gets removed. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | Update, for anyone interested...
The vet advised against removing it. Said it has tenticles under the surface. I got something called xxtera to rub on it. It dried it up noticeably the first day. Vet said it's going to get pretty ugly though, as the tenticles die off, before it heals.

Location: 31 lengths farms | My mare had 3 large one similar to this, one on her inside gaskin, one on her throat latch, and one on her ear...after putting her on Forco for other issues her sarcoids on her gaskin and throatlatch went away and the one on her ear dried up where it was small enough when I had it removed it only took 2 stitches. However hers did not have tentacles so to speak. |

| My vet told me to wait till winter to use xterra because of flies. He waned it really burns and hurts so be careful. While waiting for winter per a thread on here I tried crest tooth paste ( paste not the gel), it dried up, fell off and has not returned in 6 years. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | Great info. If she gets any more, I'll try the forco or crest paste or vitamin e. The vet said it could be other things, but most likely was a sarcoid. Basically, if it's not, the xxtera won't work and this way is cheaper than biopsy. The flies are well controlled, I've been using the predators all summer. I feel kinda bad knowing it'll burn her, tho. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I did think about just leaving it alone, although it just seemed counterintuitive. My first thought was that growth needs to be off of my horse, lol. That's why I had the vet come out. I never asked about just leaving it alone, though. I just asked what I should do about it (have it cut off, or treat it with something)? From what I've read online, and replies on here, there is a wide range of what's right to do with them. Plus, a bunch of different types of sarcoids. I'm sure the vet took all of that into consideration when he decided to go this route. |
