A friend of mine has an older Charmayne James barrel saddle for sale. She said everything is intact, the tree isn't broke, and it's a 14.5" seat. That's about all I know about it. I need an extra one and am interested in buying it if the price is right.

However, neither of us have any idea of what it should be worth. Of course I won't buy it sight-unseen, but I'd like to at least have an idea on a fair price if it's good. She did text me a picture of it, but I can't even tell the maker so I don't know if it's an old double j, cactus, or another brand.

Any ideas on a fair price are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure what it should be price at, but according to the stamp on the stirrup fender it is a Circle Y brand. If it is what you and she say it is, depending entirely upon condition and age, I would say somewhere between $400 and $700 dollars.  But that is only because I've had a couple of Circle Y barrel saddles (not Charmayne James ones, though), and that is what what I got for them when I sold them. Hope this helps!

Its a Circle Y and from the looks of it, I would not pay more then 400.00 for it. I would say 350.00 to 400.00.

I'd say $350-400 too.

From looking at it again and seeing that its a older saddle that is pretty used, I would pay 350.00 for it and no more. What does the leather look like under the fenders? And the leather that holds the D rings?

The other two are probably closer to right...everything barrel horse related in Montana brings a premium, so I'm probably a little high. Listen to them! :

Thanks all! I was thinking $250-$300, but didn't know if I was wrong. Of course, that could change after seeing it. I only need it for a backup while I do repairs on my other saddles, so I didn't want to spend too much. Of course, I wanted to be fair to her, as well.

Thanks for your input!

Its a pretty old saddle that has been used pretty much so I would offer that.
