Mine has a very unique personality, but I'm pretty sure that isn't what you want to know about, LOL. I haven't really had a lot of experience on the pattern yet, just because we are still in the hauling and seasoning process. They are easier to get on, and a lot closer to the ground if you fall off (I haven't really noticed a difference, though, between falling of a 16 hh horse and a 14.2 hh horse, LOL).  But I love her to death.

My 5yo 14.3hh mare is a reiner reject.  Her sire has won over $300k and grandsires are Custom Chrome and Smart Chic Olena.  Her watch is wound a little tight you might could say.  She can certainly move her feet in an efficient and speedy style.  She is the definition of quick and catty.  She started on barrels in February and I've seriously had my doubts about her calming down enough to make a barrel/pole horse.  The last two weekends are starting to change my mind.  She has placed in the 3D the last two weekends.  And last weekend she clocked a low 23 on the poles on about her 10th time through them. She's still got room for improvement so i'm finally getting excited about her.  I do have 'size' shock when I get on and look down for the rest of the horse.  :)

I spent the last decade riding mostly 14.2-15 hh horses...I don't know how big my 4 year old has gotten, but it takes both hands to get my foot in the stirrup that feels like it's up by my ear.  LOL.  It's easier for a little horse to be quick, and if you get a big stride on a little horse, they're likely going to kick some booty.  I like riding smaller horses, BUT they have to have some length in the neck and shoulder for me to feel comfortable on them because otherwise I feel like I'm going to go over the front.
