snake bite?

My mare came up with a very swollen hind leg from top to bottom, about 6 days ago. We thought she had maybe gotten cast beside a pipe fence. There was only a small scratch on the front of her hock so we thought it was a torn ligament of some kind. Today while hosing her, I found these two knots up inside of her upper leg! I'm wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this. Could she have rolled on a snake? Does she have some weird tumors?! My husband thinks he sees two fany dots in one of them...
The swelling is better today. I would appreciate any feedback anyone has.

both knots just sort of float on top of the muscle, and are firm.

if you suspect a snake bite i would have been to the vet faster than your head could spin, can be a lot of mucsle and tissue damage from a snake bite......i have seen a snake bite on a horses leg before..not pretty
i may live in the frozen cold north but at least i dont have to worry about friggen snakes...yuck

To me the only way to know for sure if it was snake bite is to have seen it after it happen not days later. I had one of my horses get bit and that same day it swelled up pretty tight and you could seen where she got bit. The swelling went down in a few days, I'm pretty sure it was a Copperhead that bit her. There was no damage to any tissue/muscle and she is fine.

your lucky it did no damage.....from what i have read and been told the venom can do a lot of damage, i had a friend goin to buy a horse that got bit but there was a lot of internal damage found and it basically compromised the whole leg and the soundness of the horse as anything other than a trail horse basically.....you guys would be way more up on the snake info...lol
