I'm interested to see how this works for people who ride multiple horses for the same person or farm. I have been presented with an offer to ride 6-8 horses for a guy. Obviously we got to work something out because he's doing me a favor by wanting me riding for him and representing his horses, and giving me plenty of work...but at the same time we've got to come up with an agreement that's fair as far as pay and everything for both of us. I'm going to be putting in ALOT of work and want to be compensated fairly. How does this normally work?

it really depends on what your prices are to begin with. A beginner trainer with low prices
(low profit margin
) should not cut very much if at all. If your prices are on the high end for your area then cutting 10-15 % would probably be ok. I have put multiple horses into training and was only discounted $25 per head
(in winter
)on an already entry level price. I feel the trainer undercut himself and as it got warmer and others began to get interested in riding again he had multiple spots filled with bargain prices that could have went to someone else for more money. He had a policy that if you started with him and as long as you kept that stall filled the price stayed the same. so i got winter pricing in the summer. Although I provided a lot of the feed for special diets and such, thinking back I should have greased his palm more.

I got nothing... But there are a lot of questions you need to ask yourself... When you figure those out it will be easier... You could start with asking him what he think is fair and go from there... Do you have your own horse that needs riding also? Will you be riding everyday? How far is the farm from your place? Does he have an indoor or is all riding outside, This is not a bad thing just weather will get in your way.

The plan is for the horses to come to my place, so I will be doing full care for them including training and riding. I do have my own horses to ride as well, but I have excellent barn help!
