If so, are you happy with it and what can you do with it?
I went back to school- have been trying to get into the respiratory program, but even with perfect grades there is a wait. An advisor mentioned I may be able to get this degree much quicker since I have all classes out of the way just not familiar with what I could get with this degree.

I have a masters in public health and the job market is SLIM SLIM pickens with Obama care. I had a nice job til Obama care happened. You can get a a job and make nice money with a public health degree but be willing to move and relocate from time to time.

Like the public health nurse? I'd rather jump off of a bridge if that's what you mean.

I recently finished my degree in public health. It is absolutely useless! The best advice, find something specific to specialize in. Even if there is a wait for the respiratory program, I would stick to it. I went for the broad public health degree, thinking it would open more doors for opportunity in multiple fields. I was certainly wrong. Every single one of my friends that had a speciality field
(pharmacology, radiology, sports rehab, ect.
) were hired days after graduation.
This degree is too broad. You know a little bit about a lot.

My SO has his Master's in Public Health. He wanted a broad degree because he was entering into PA
(Physicians Assistant
) school. He was so burnt out with school, that after a year, he left the PA program. He had heck finding a job, but is now working for a large health insurance company and is doing very well there. I agree with whoever said that jobs with a public health degree are slim pickins. The only jobs that I can think of off the top of my head that require an M.P.H. are health department administration
positions.

Thanks so much.
That is what I had figured, i know it is better to have something more specialized than general but figured i'd ask having no knowledge on it!
