My new horses loves a draw bit... I have one but it is home made, which cause me to be scarred to trust it enough to run in it. ?? I just bough an NRS brand one so that way it's a little more solid. Do they make something so I can run a draw but on a regular headstall?

Running roan makes rope cheek pieces that fit on a regular headstall. I use the Dutton draw gags with the ropes. I've also made my own with piggin strings. I love the draw gags.

I personally dont like the mouthpieces of the Loomis. Duttons have a great selection.

You might try an April Yeager bit Heres her website.

Anybody that makes custom tack can make cheek pieces. I have the April Yeager bit and had cheek pieces made and put it on a nylon headstall. Works great !!! She's on FB too

Has anyone tried the Sherry Cervi draw gag? I scored one the other day at a Pawn shop. I couldn't pass it up for $35.00. And it is in really good shape!

The Duttons are by far my most favorite. I have some old ones and by old ones I mean 1960 that I love but you can't find them anymore.

If you don't mind me asking.... what do you not like about them?

I don't like 2 piece bits. 3 piece or solid.

Yes there are cheek pieces that you can slide a gag on. I think they are called a Jarret. Forgiveme if I am wrong on the name.

A Jarrett is a different feel, different bit. I use those too. Running Roan and probably some others take rope and sew on buckles on one end and a loop on the other to put a draw gag on.

This is my fancy gag I made of piggin string. Not the prettiest.
