Has anyone ever donated a horse that they couldn't use to a rescue center to be placed with a good, low impact home? If so, how'd it go?

If you are referring to a personal horse who has been ruined for riding, send them to retirement, not to a rescue.

Nope & NEVER will. If I can't keep & retire my older horse or get them sold into the perfect home I'd rather put them down. Someone I know gave their good old horse to a rescue.....who almost starved him to death then sold him to someone else, even though he was supposed to be staying at the rescue for life. Luckily she ended up finding him posted for sale by the 2nd person who also claimed she "rescued" him & brought him home.

How sad for a so call rescue to do this, at least the horse is back home. I have heard not so good stories on rescues, I would rather give the horse to someone I trust or just put it down then to a rescue.

I think giving a horse up to rescue when they have earned retirement is poor responsibility. Retirement is a different story.
