So starting a few months ago Boone our almost 7 month old labs eyes started to turn pink randomly. Over the last month they have gotten worse. They will be normal and then pink, then normal again the next time I look. One night they were a dark red color and it was scary looking. In the last week when his eyes turn colors his bottom eye lid will droop and his eyes water a little. It doesn't seem to bother him. We switched him to all natural food in case it was an allergy but it didn't help. He's going to the vet on Thursday but just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this.

Any scratches that you can see? Could be a number of things from  corneal ulceration (scratches on the surface of the eye), uveitis, conjunctivitis (inflammation of the lining of the eyelids), to glaucoma.

No scratches and doesn't look blood shot. The white part just goes from white, to light pink and then to dark pink everyday. It's so weird

When my dog started having similar issues we took him in to the vet and he had rapidly advancing juvenile cataracts. He was about 6 months old when it started happening.  Might want to go get him checked.  I am in no way diagnosing your dog, just telling you my experience. I'm trying to find a picture of my dog but I think they are all on my other computer.

Thank you! What was the treatment for that? I may have a picture of it. I'll look.

Let's see if I can get these to show up.
Ok so this is what my Dane's eye started doing. Cataract surgery was our only option. He now has very limited vision in that eye but we were able to save all his vision in the other eye.

Here are a couple of pictures of him now. You can see that the bad eye does not reflect any light in pictures. Looking back through his puppy pictures we noticed that his eye started to not reflect in pictures long before he showed any noticeable signs. It did not look like the normal dog with cataracts.....white cloudy...it was just red which we learned was actually blood vessels swelling and bursting.
thank goodness my friend doesn't get on BHW...she would kill me for posting that picture of her.. lol

That's what his look like! His reflect light in pictures right now though. I did some research and it does sort of sound like conjunctivitis and cataracts. Going into the vet Thursday morning so I guess we will find out. Thanks

he has Entropian. where his bottom eyelids have loosened and the edges curl in and cause the eye to get irritated. it happens a lot in puppies and sometimes it tightens back up and the problem solves itself but sometimes they may need surgery. he has ointment that we put in 2x a day. hope it helps but at least he isnt going to go blind.

I hope so! I guess it's more common to fix itself when it comes up in puppies. He did say the surgery is pretty minor and relatively cheap if it does come to that.
