I use Wilkins. I like them because they respond almost immediately to my emails, and endured all of my questions. They also take payments on your premiums, which I always appreciate.

will they allow monthly payments on the policy like car insurance?

Most places I've checked with want like $400 up front then so much a few months later than the rest of the policy

They allow 1/3 payments but will need full payment within 90 days.  I think it also depends on your premium.

Usually it is .5 % of the value that you insure

This is who I use and have been extremely happy with them. I believe their rate is 3.5% of the value of the horse.

They were great, until I had some major medical claims. Nightmare customer service. Even my vet's office said they were horrible to deal with. Then they started sending past due letters each month when I was never past due! I am never late on any bills! When I left them, they asked me why I was not pleased. I gave them constructive feedback and the manager responded completely unprofessionally.

I switched to Dobbs Equine Insurance and was very pleased. They are horse show people and they were professional and timely. Plus, they handled all my claims in the same manner.

That is good to know! I have never had to file a claim with them, so I guess as long as they are just taking my premiums, all is good! LOL I will keep these other folks in mind when it is time to renew. Thank you!

The rates for barrel horses will range anywhere form 3.25% to 3.8% depending on the company. Each company ususally offers just a little bit different coverage when it comes to the emergency colic surgery endorsement. Yes the premiums can be paid in monthly payments. Each company usually has a little different payment schedule but we can do it for as little as 25% down payment and the balance in 9 monthly payments. If we can be of any assistance please let me know. OUr email address is [email protected]
Thanks

LCI (they are in Texas) Susan and Lyndia are wonderful people. I see they also have a banner on top of the home page of BHW.
