When you're picking out a prospect, what do you look for in one? I'm looking for alllll the information I can get. Can any "cowy" horse make the cut or what? TIA!

One that likes to RUN. I don't really have any info for you. My family did have one mare that should have made a nice rope horse, was cowbred and cowy. She was too small to head on and hated ropes and hated the heel box. Turned out she like the head box and had not much whoa on her. Ran her by a few steers and she found her calling in life.

My dad bull dogged years and years ago. His best horse was one that a guy hard started roping calves on, but found he didn't have a lot of rate or stop. They ran him by some steers and he really took too it. He had a lot of speed, was about 14.3 and stocky.

My husband prefers a 14.3/15 hand stocky horse that is long underneath.  They need to be able to REALLY run.  They do need to be cowy, but not TOO cowy.  Usually you will have trouble getting a super-cowy horse to blow on by.  Some people think bulldogging horses should be runaways, but I disagree.  A runway that doesn't score isn't worth much.  Also, my husband's current dogging horse will spin and slide if you ask  her to do so.

A good number of blown up barrel horses have made good bull dogging horses. You want one that likes to Run. They need to be quiet enough to sit in the box well but their rate doesn't have to be great.
