Location: west of East Texas | Warning - I'm bragging and it's long.... My 12yo daughter has just been riding lights out since the first of the year! She's been riding this horse for two years nicely enough but some kind of switch has flipped. She's set a couple of personal bests. She's won a couple Youth 1Ds, she placed in an Open 1D with 165 entries, and she's run in the top 10-15% with 300+ entries. Then last Tuesday night, her horse came in on three legs. A huge gash is across the very cap of the hock, deep and wide. She rode my Crackhead for the first time Tuesday, again bareback on Friday and ran Saturday at a race. They were just out of placing in the 2D. They ran 23rd out of 200+! She has her final junior high rodeo this Saturday and really needs this rodeo to qualify for State so she either has to give up or step up. She decided step up or she would have never gotten on my horse. We have 'old faithful' she could ride just to enter but not win anything on. Crackhead just started last summer and was a frustrating train wreck until about October. To add a little poke in my side, they outran MY fastest run there. Ouch! :) I'm so proud of her guts!
Now, if you could mention G in a prayer or two for healing it would mean so much. G is actually the rockstar at our house and is also carrying the 17yo daughter to State for her final year of High School Rodeo. Her spot is solid so we aren't as concerned for her last rodeo, she's going to State whether she enters or not. Thanks in advance.

Oops! I totally meant to write Chase on the Crackhead bit! I got the gist, apparently my brain just couldn't keep it all organized! lol |

Location: west of East Texas | Chase is really coming into her own as a 'thinking' rider. I can see her making moves and tweeking things right when it needs to happen and her aggressive riding is back. Now I have to wonder... do I get to ride my horse at Diamonds and Dirt? Or do I have to let her have Crackhead? :)))))) |
