Every horse is different, could be a few hours and could easily be days.

I've honestly never seen any of mine wax. One year I fed morning grain and checked my old mare, no wax.....couple hours later she foaled.

i think you typically get a 48 hour window...
we had one mare who waxed, milk turned white, and did everything text book.
My other mare doesn't really wax at all.. she won't let me milk her either. Her only clue is she will cock her tail funny the day of...of course her tail head gets like jelly and the baby drops but she doesn't give me BIG clues...

Video cameras are your best bet.. If they even THINK you are near they will never have it...

Most will foal that night. Longest I have seen them go is 4 nights. The vet I work for foals out about 50 mares a year. We are on about 20 so far this year. Had one's milk calcium
(usually foal at 200+ ppm
) stay at 500ppm for 2 days and one foaled this morning in the middle of feeding time at 100ppm... Crazy kids.... Neither were maiden lol

Thanks everyone! I am so excited she is getting so close. Her belly has dropped a lot over the weekend, and she is waxing and holding her tail sideways. I hope to have a foal tonight!
Cameras would be awesome if I had a set up to do that. One day I will, but not now. Heck a barn would be nice at this point. LOL
