I just paid $1.75 for a small bag of 8 pieces of nugget sized jerky. Does anyone have any delicious recipes for jerky...deer or beef? I need to make some. Also, I have a multi-level dehydrator, do you use that or another type of jerky making machine??

Spelling...who has time for that?  We use the milti level dehydrator, works great.  The nice thing about jerky is it doesn't really matter what you put on it.  One of my favs is worchestershire sauce marrinade and then season with Spade L beef seasoning.  Takes the game taste out of the deer.

I use the multi-level dehydrator and make mine with beef. I don't know the exacty measurements cause I just eyeball. I dump it all over the sliced meat in a bowl and toss with my hands and let it sit in the fridge to marinate overnight.

1 bottle of Worchestershire sause
some soy sauce
some liquid smoke (you don't need a ton of this because it is strong)
lots of garlic
lowry's seasoning salt
pepper

 Recipe.

Google it.  They also make jerky seasoning packs if you're super lazy. The regular multi level dehydrators work fine.

Sometimes we also add, soy sauce, liquid smoke, ketchup and pretty much whatever seasonings I can find.  I usually marinade over night but not really needed.

We use a dehydrator too!

I love jerky.... yum! We slice our meat really thin and marinate it in 1/2 water, 1/2 soy sauce and use liquid smoke, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, dehydrated garlic, onion powder and sometimes crushed red pepper to taste!

We LOVE the Nesco: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Metal-Ware-Corporation-BJ-18-NESCO-BJ18-J... I usually put it in the oven, use the jerky gun, it takes very little time. I have other recipes but this is by far the easiest one and really nice because we package our hamburger in 2 pound packs so it will make 2 big cookie sheets full! The packaged seasoning is good for 1 pound of meat per package. The jerky gun is great too, I think I paid $18 for it on amazon!

When I get really adventurous, I will do whole muscle jerky, marinated for a few days(in whatever recipe I google) and smoke in the smokehouse!  (that's a lot more work though-that's what winter is for)

worschire sauce
A1
liquid smoke
sea salt or meat tenderizer (not both)
terriaki
soak in sauce for 12-24 hrs prior to dehydration.  my slices vary in size.  I will start looking at my dehydrator about 4hrs in and take off some of the smaller pieces so they dont become petrified.  some of the larger take 6hrs to finish.  let cool and then baggie.  I made all my kids a 1lb sack for christmas.

This is pretty much my husband's recipe, minus the garlic (have never thought to have him add garlic... I love it!) and we usually add some Allegro tenderizer.  It's good stuff!  He always clears out the previous year's elk to take with him for the upcoming elk trip.  Somehow I get jipped the rest of the year.
