Party Girl Posts: 12293 Location: Buffalo, Wyoming	I am 30, not married and have not kids. I come from a state where if you are not married by the time you are 19-21 something must be wrong with you. All of my friends from High School (well I have been friends with them since we were very little) are all married ( 2 are divorced) and all but one of them have kids. I have been able to travel and do what ever I want for the last 6 years. It has been a blast. My SO and I have been dating for 6 years, we have the same goals in life and neither of us were in a rush to get married. Since I let all the baggage go from High School it has been the best 10 years of my life!

Elite Veteran Posts: 911 Location: Northern Ontario	I am almost 27 and still not married with no kids.....maybe kids in 2-3 years..well see. I want to get married first. I love my life! Every one tells me not to rush. I was so worried about those things when I was younger. I wanted to be married with kids and my career at 24 lol.... I cannot imagine if I would have actually done that because I really love my life right now and want to savour every phase of it. I have just gotten settled in my career this year and my bf and I are looking for a house. All our friends are married with kids, but we like our freedom(from babies) right now and our relationship is blossoming everyday(even after 2 years). If i was in a rush, i would be married with kids with my ex and I would be miserable

Elite Veteran Posts: 612	A few years ago (I think on this board) there was an article posted about how woman shouldn't get married until they are at least close to 30 because we are still growing and finding out who that we are. The article had a lot of really good points. It does work for some people to get married and have kids at a young age, but it doesn't work for a lot of other people. When I was in my 20's and into my 30's, I had so much being single and having friends to hang out and go barrel racing. I have great stories to tell and I still look back and smile about the fun times. I am now married and have a wonderful son. I wouldn't trade my single days for anything and now I wouldn't trade my husband and son. I needed to spend those years having fun and growing up so that I could be a good wife and mother.

Strong Willed Woman Posts: 6577 Location: Prosser, WA	I get what you are saying. Looking back to when I was that age there were a lot of people my age getting married and having kids. Even in my early 20's it seemed like a good share of the guys available were divorced and/or had kids. I was in no hurry but got married at 26 which seemed old at the time but now seems pretty young. I had my first kid at 30 and I thought I was going to be the old parent at school functions. Surprisingly I'm not, at least with my first two. :)
