OK my farrier of 7+ years got involved with a gal. ( I thought her stories were not true). And John (farrier) has been a good friend in addition to my farrier. Well as things go on I get to be friends with Amy (Johns girlfriend). So as time goes on she treated John terrible by cheating on him for about 6 months. John asked her to move out and she refused. So about this time her horses end upat my house. She called me later to go pick up her trailer( she doesn't have a truck). And then a other trip to pick up her things. Fast forward to this week. My husband has gotten ****ed about the fence getting trashed , the hydrant getting bent, the extra hay ( that I'm buying). So he said she had to get her horses out of here. Now somehow I'm the bad guy. I tried to text her and say I'm sorry. But apparently that wasn't good enough. She has continuously lied to me. She gave me one of the horses for the care of the rest. Supposed to be a 2-3D horse. But I can't verify anything even the story on where he came from is a lie. So I would like some of the great advice that bhw always has..Thanks

What a mess, cut your losses and get her off of your place.  Her cheating shows what character or lack of character she has.   She is treating you just like she did her boyfriend.   Chalk it up to lesson learned.

What advice do you need, tell her to move the horses and hit the road! She sounds like a crappy person.... Also I think I would give her a bill for the damage her horses did. I have a horse of a friends that I am retraining and giving a little TLC but her situation is an abusive husband and she needs me to help her sell him so she can get out. It obviously was only a friendship when she was getting something from you, that's not a real friendship in my eyes!

Send her a bill for damages and a letter stating they must be removed from the property by what ever date you choose. I think legally you have to give 72 hours but don't quote me on that. Make sure to send it as certified mail and you may even want a return receipt that she has to sign for. I believe if she refuses to pick up the horses and pay the bill within 30 days you can lean sell her horses.

She may come to pick the horses up without paying the bill, it is up to you on how firm you want to stand and what legalities you want to follow with.

Get rid of her and her horses, she's a lier and a cheat and you need her out befor she causes a serious problem between you and your husband. This is not a friend and you dont owe her nothing, you are not the bad guy.

Why are you telling her sorry?! She's the ones who's taken advantage of your "friendship" Id say learn from the farrier as to why he kicked her to the curb...

I had a somewhat similar story happen to me last year. The neighbor lady got kicked off her "manfriend's" farm and it was still winter so she needed a place for her horses. She gave me a sob story about how he wanted to charge her $100 a bale for hay that he bought for $40 and how he was just unreasonable and it was all his fault, etc. Well my husband and I felt bad for the horses who were not getting fed since she didn't want to pay that for the hay so we brought them over a bale of hay. We then offered our extra pasture up since she needed to have them moved off his property and she couldn't find (or my guess is didn't look that hard) any pasture to rent. Anyways, I did charge her board but it was practically nothing because she had 7 horses and she was suppose to have them out within a couple months. Well nearly 7 months later, another horse added to her herd, and her rarely coming out to see them my husband and I had enough. I finally told her she needed to get them off my pasture. Well luckily she did end up finding a place to buy but she was taking forever to get fence up and thought she could put up a fancy fence and take her time while they stayed at my place. I had to tell her to put up a dang electric fence and get them moved or pay me $1400 a month for her horses to continue to stay at my place. She finally got them out of there. Oh! She also wanted me to drive and haul her horses all over since she didn't have a trailer or a truck that could handle much of a trailer. At the time the only trailer I had was my LQ Bloomer and her horses were all hardly even halter broke and few could even be walked up to in the pasture. I did not want her crazy horses in my LQ trailer so there were many times I told her no and that she needed to find someone else to haul horses for her. There is so much more to this story about another shady horse deal she did with a client of mine but I won't get into that.

Anyways...do not apologize to her! It is your property! Tell her she needs to find some place else to keep her horses. They are not your responsibility! If she cannot take care of them or afford to rent or board somewhere then she needs to sell them.

Thank you so much for your comments. She is supposed to be picking the horses up tomorrow. So with any luck at all she will be gone. I will fix fence and suck it up and learn. The text she sent me was rude and accusatory. So I'm hoping she learned from this Cuz I did.

Good to hear that the horses are gone, what a witch she should have been happy that at least you let her leave the horses with you untill she found another VICTIM that she can use.

When Someone shows you who they are...believe them! She is a professional user. Be glad if the last you see of her is the taillights on the next poor sucker's truck.
