My horse is a weaver, has been since I got him as a 4 year old. He is ulcer prone. I try to keep hay in front of him at all times but he at least gets hay at least 3 times a day.

Any tips or tricks I can do to keep him busy(toys, licks, ect)and or stop him from doing it? He is rubbing the hair off his neck now.

Put his hay in a slow feed hay bag to keep him occupied longer

I too have a weaver, she also stall walks and is ulcer prone. Her corral is 90Ă—70 , she has grass hay in front of her 24/7,a gelding for a buddy and she gets worked every day. She's hard to keep weight on and is super sensitive, but she's such a good mare and an honest working horse..I just tolerate her quirks. I found that a forage-only diet seems to help, and lots of attention/interaction, she's a very busy mare.

He really needs to be out on pasture as much as possible. And does need a buddy, I got one that would pace, but since I have own him he has a large pen his own MIni and has pasture time with another buddy that's his stall mate. They are turned out at least 6 to 8 hours a day, and has stoped all that crazy pacing.

My ulcery horse usually starts to weave when shes gassy, or uncomfortable in her stomach, nervous etc. I keep oral syringes on hand with a Product called PRO-CMC made by Absorbine :

Absorbine® ProCMC® proactively supports normal gastric and intestinal function to help guard against equine gastric distress and helps to maintain a healthy stomach. Horses are susceptible to gastric distress when they are being fed a high grain, low fiber diet, or while undergoing the physical and emotional stress of training, shipping, weaning, or drug therapies. ProCMC® protects by coating the lining of the horse's stomach to help maintain normal stomach acids. Its buffered formula soothes and coats while providing an essential source of calcium and magnesium. ProCMC® is highly palatable with a delicious apple flavor.

*Not available in Texas

When my ulcery-gasy horses get to weaving or acting funky, I will give them 4-6 oz orally with a syringe and about 15-20 minutes later they are back to normal. This will run you about 30-40$ depending where you buy it. And will last you quite a while, as I only use it when I have to. I believe its a 64 oz bottle

my horse will pace/weave in pasture as well. If something sets her off, or shes having an off day, nervous.. etc she will weave. It has nothing to do with her wanting to be outside (in her case) I would treat for ulcers and have a mylanta / pro cmc type liquid on hand for the horses "off" days or "episodes"... Worth a shot. It works for me.
