I just took my broodmares in to get vaccinated, Coggins and teeth floated. My vet is having me bring back one of them in two months for a biopsy because he suspects she has cancer in the mouth. I was taking them to get bred next month, but now that I am faced with a possibility of cancer, I am uncertain about what the treatments or prognosis is. I shouldn't go ahead and breed her should I? She is a 2003 model. I just need opinions on what you would do please. Thank you for your time!

With breeding season nearly here, I would take her somewhere where they can get her in faster and get your answers sooner. Leaving you hanging for 2 months isn't cool.

I agree with you on that. I am trying to get her in next week at another vet, but I am awaiting a call back.

I would try to get a diagnosis and make your decision based on that.

If you have the funds ..place an embryo in a recipient mare and leave her open so she has ability to fight any cancer she may have.
