Where is God when all the evil is going on in the world? The same place He was when He allowed His precious Son to die a terribly cruel death on a cross like a common criminal! He was on His throne in heaven knowing from the beginning of time that the day would come when Jesus would die for all of us. How fair was that??? He never did anything wrong or deserved the punishment and death He endured for us!! The Bible teaches that God’s ways are higher than our ways. If we had all the answers WE would be God. Oh, yes… God could step in at any time and call a halt to time itself and stop all the evil that goes on in the world (and one day Jesus is coming back to do just that). But He loves us enough that He does not make us love Him – He gives us that choice, just like He allows us to do whatever we choose to do… good or bad. We are not puppets or robots that He controls our every move. I do believe that He has a perfect plan for every one of us and I can guarantee it doesn’t involve doing bad things. Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. That’s what God’s plan is for us. Unfortunately, we all choose to make choices that He would not make for us!

My grandmother would give that a big Amen, and I will too!

Sometimes I feel that I need to defend God and the Bible. My husband, the actual preacher of the family, tells me that my actions and the way I treat people is the best kind of witness. Sometimes we use words!!

My grandmother was a prayer warrior, and between her and my mother made me a drug child-----you know the ones that are drug to church every time the doors are open? And I thank my God everyday for it. Mammaw Pearl truly LIVED a Christian life, not just talked it. Her greatest prayer in life was for her family to follow her into the kingdom of God. She's been gone since 1999, but I still ask myself quite often in situations. . . What would Mammaw do? And it helps me get the right answer most times.

CJE - 2015-04-16 9:43 PM It's hard to believe in "plans" when bad things have happened in your life that were not of any control...... Was it Gods plan (my mothers death when I was very young) ...so does God let some die and save others......I don't exactly know the answer. John the Baptist questioned the plan.........Jesus could have called down angels and saved him for he had healed the blind raised the dead......john the Baptist lost his head......where was Jesus?

We can't compare earth to heaven.  Heaven is our perfect home where nothing bad happens.  Earth is our learning time to help us have faith and grow closer to God through trials and tribulations.  I don't know if there is a plan or if we have free will, but it doesn't matter because I believe our purpose on earth is to learn from both the good and bad things that happen and, more than anything, to always remember that no one dies, we all have everlasting life and even when someone close to us passes away (even a child) they are not dead, their soul lives on with us and in heaven.  God doesn't pick one to live and one to die, but it could be that certain people on earth need different lessons and the trials and life and death are part of that.  The lesson is faith and loving and trusting God.  Jesus proved to us that there is everlasting life, his purpose was not to make sure everything on earth was perfect like it is in heaven.  Think of it this way, that heaven is eternal and our life on earth is a drop in the bucket compared to that.  That's why some religions believe we re-incarnate in order to keep learning lessons to bring us closer to God.  I don't know, but I do know it's about faith.

I dont believe that at all..

I think I said it wrong, the way it reads looks like I meant that God 'makes' bad things happen to teach lessons to some people.  I'm sorry, that wasn't my meaning at all, but I see that it sounds like it.  I meant to make a point that in some religions, the belief is that we plan the general path of our earth lives with God before we are born to attain higher spiritual growth and move closer to God.   Some people include more trials than others, the purpose being is to have faith that no matter what happens, we need to love and trust God and have faith that our souls live forever in perfect heaven with God, but our mortal flesh on earth is temporary and vulnerable, so we need to be aware that we are all really eternal souls here on earth to learn, and some will be faced with a lot more tragedy than others, but it's what they wanted for higher spiritual growth, knowing that our true eternal selves will live forever.

My family believes this, it's how I was raised to believe, so I tend to see death as a passing to our real home, knowing we will all reunite again.  I believe we are all inter-connected and part of our spiritual growth is learning to see God in each of us and know that we all have a purpose for being here and all of our interactions with others is meant to give us choices in the path we take,  we grow spiritually no matter what choice we make, good or bad, we learn from it.  The hope is that we learn to be tolerant of others beliefs and shortcomings, knowing we are all on a different spiritaul path, and the big picture will be revealed once we go home to heaven.  It's my belief, and I respect others beliefs, I hope it makes some sense this time.
