| So I have been going back and forth with my gelding for about 2 years now, figuring out what's going on with him and where he was having some issues that were causing pain. Well, we believe we have finally gotten it figured out. But throughout all of this he seems to have lost his 'fire'. I feel like he just goes out their and does the pattern, doesn't really 'give it his all' anymore. I am hoping that now that we have him comfortable, he will eventually realize this and start to get his fire back.
Any suggestions, comments? He seems so ready and will take off in the ally like he is really ready to lay a run down, but once we turn the fist, he just loses that fire. |

| Had a horse just like that ended up sending blood sample to dr. Ellerson at pathogenes in florida sent bloodwork cost about 35.00 for blood test i got the blood tubes at dog vet drew it myself. He was low level, sent the meds and my horse has been more himself. I let him off the winter see what happens. He was dragging his rear toes. But her looks good now no dragg at all. He was a little bronky i thru a saddle on him a week ago a after 5 months only one small buck. Attitude totally different, easy peasy laid back. |

She tested for EPM
Got the tubes from local vet, pulled blood herself and sent to be tested for EPM
The low level, guessing not exactly high enough to say the horse had EPM, but there was a possibility, so she ordered the meds and began treating.
Before treatment horse was dragging toes
After treatment and winter off horse no longer dragging toes

what did vet finally find? because clearly horse if i remember correctly was really sore..
maybe horse just has hurt for so long that he is outta whack mentally and physically

| Yes same horse.. ended up with Jack ligament surgery (bursa was becoming inflamed causing pain). Hocks injected and also SI joints injected. He is definitely feeling and running better than before, but like you said..he was hurting for a while. I'm thinking and hoping it's just something he will have to eventually get through and realize he's not hurting anymore. His gate issues are already getting a little better which is a plus. |

| This happened to my gelding and I know how much it sucks :( he happened to have a DDFT injury along with some navicular degeneration. This happened exactly one year ago and I literally just got the ok to start riding him again, so who knows if he will start firing again in the pen. But, it seems like you have dealt with some tendon injuries. Maybe he will figure out it doesn't hurt anymore! Good luck :( |
