Needing some rock for my horse lot... the mud is unbearable and I need something to put down so nobody is breaking a leg trying to get in and out of the covered stall.
Screenings, 5/8" chips or pea gravel?

If I had to choose between the two I would go with the Pea Gravel.

I would get some regular base or crushed white rock.
I don't know if pea gravel will wash away or sit on top of mud well?

My husband suggests we just go with 1 1/2" Crusher Run... but my horse's are barefoot and I hate to subject them to 1 1/2" any more than I have to.... so he's decided to let me figure it out so I can't blame him if I'm unhappy with what he chose!
I would love the screenings, but I am afraid that they will wash out. I really need guttering on the barn/shed and that would solve many of my problems.
Pea gravel was what I originally wanted, but then he informed that the local crusher doesn't sell it so that means that I can't have it today
(wanted it a month ago..
) and who knows when the trucks will be free again.
What ever I have to get has to not wash away or be too tough for a high traffic area with barefeet.

Screenings. once they dry out they get really hard.. and there won't be any BIG rocks to make sore feet.

You must have a good base under the pea gravel or it will just get mixed in with the mud.
