| Keep in mind I only 'heard' this. But supposedly they wanted all qualifiers to have at least $10,000 in added money for the barrel race it was being held along with. The PacWest in Buckeye does not add that much so maybe that is why they dropped it? Buckeye also did not draw as many as the previous year. I don't think they had over 100 entries. The Reno qualifier will be held in the indoor pen. The rodeo is going on in the outdoor at that time. Whst fears and controversy? It's been over a month since the American and I guess I've already forgotten any problems. Lol There is an issue with the calf roping on whether they planned out letting the qualifer win to split the money or not. It has been said people at the American witnessed a few of the final calf ropers discussing this. I have not heard if this has been settled or not yet.
There was also LOTS of discussion and controversy regarding the ground conditions/timer/barrel stakes, etc. |

| Why are people being so negative about these events? I think Robin has really been trying and doing a good job with this.....its been kindly thrown together so there have been kinks but overall for the amount of competitors, money, and producers (numerous ones) involved she's done a dang good job! |

^^^ I sooo agree with you!
It's a tough tough job and it will take a little bit to work the kinks out. I still think it's the best thing to happen to barrel racing ever (and rodeo in general). |

I agree this is one of the coolest things to happen to Barrel Racing! She has done a great job and it is only going to get better and better. Maybe in the future as it continues to grow us Northerners will see more up this way. |

They moved the one to Canada to help the Northerns get qualified. They also moved them around large WPRA rodeos as well to making the haul and scheduling easy for some of the girls to get into qualifiers.
This is a very exciting event and I hope it keeps going. I wish wayyyyy back in the day the barrel racers would have left Wes Scott alone will the slot races, we'd be running for half a million now if they had not just a lil over 100k if everyone had not jumped in front of him and ruined the slot race game. But it is what it is. I hope everyone continues to support and help improve the purses in our industry! Maybe one day we will get it figured out like the other quarter horse industries have LOL |

The way they ran the BBR qualifier was a crock.
Three different nights is no bueno.
It was clearly listed on the entry so no one has a right to ***** about it, but it shouldn't have been done that way.

I was actually surprised they couldn't carry the runs over to the open. I know they have at Glen Rose and other venues. |

Huh?
Why can't you run a qualifier in 3 sections? I was there and watched 2 of them...thought it was very well done.
You do know that the semi-qualifiers are put in 3 different performances over 3 days, right? As long as it's listed on the entry, the contestants very clearly understand the rules....why the whining now? |

Who said it cant be ran in 3 sections? Hell, you could run 5 horses a night if you wanted...
The semis is what everyone complained about, it appeared the ground was very different from night to night.
arion said "no one has a right to ***** about it" as did you...
So basically why the quote? I dont get it? |

Location: Nebraska | I'm sad Lincoln isn't on the list this year. They got a decent number of entries last year and it's a great facility. Too bad they couldn't have figured up how to get it during the Bonus Race Finals. Now THAT would have been fun to watch! |
