my dog got like that and he had vestibular disease. He was so bad I thought he had a stroke. Could not walk. it is in the inner ear. He layed around and I took care of him to make a full recovery but it was very critical I think most people would have put him down the symptoms are so bad. Best of luck to her and maybe ask about vestibular. His eyes were spinning around in his head and he was dizzy. He threw up his food. Tell her to look at his eyes and see if they are spinning.
