Found this interesting. For those of you who are interested in what is in your feed.
Page 16, 17 and 18 pertain to horse feed.

I started the journey of finding out what the ingredients actually were in dog foods years ago and then went to horse feed when I could no longer get quality oats and barley.
In reality...it's pretty scary.
Thanks for posting!

AAFCO has no enforcement power. This is a guideline that each state follows with their own interpretation. 50 different interpretations. Most states consider any ingredient not listed as a defined feed ingredient in the AAFCO book as illegal for use, or a drug. The vague "byproduct" term clouds the issue even more. Making a label that 50 states will approve is a challenge. Many companies use the vague terms to do this.

Horse feeds are downright scary. I don't think I could ever switch from what I feed now just for fear of what is in other feeds. I went to a local mill the other day and the FIRST ingredient in their pellet feed
(s
) was "processed grain byproducts". Grrrrreat.

TAMU runs tests on a regular basis to make sure the ingredients in the bag match the tag as well as compare ingredients to the nutritional value on the tag.

All feeds or the just the ones they use? Or do you send in your feed for testing? Do they publish their findings?
