What are everyone’s thoughts on offering a commission to whoever sends you the buyer for your horse? How do you determine the percentage? Does it help you sell faster? Especially if you’ve been out of the loop or scene for a while?

10 percent is standard. But this needs to be agreed upon before.

The sellor gets 10%. You turn over the horse and the sellor does the showing and advertising and all the work and expense. If a sellor takes a horse on consignment for 10% they should not charge you for board, feed, entry fees, etc. The only exception would be vet bills that were not caused by the sellor.

10% is typical.
Although my dad helped sell and SHOW
(haul/exhibition
) a horse and we determined that 10% wasn't quite up to par so we decided on the amount we wanted the horse to bring, and he could keep anything over that amount.

I disagree here. 10 percent should be the flat amount for making the sale. Entry fees , hauling , board etc. should be above and beyond the 10 percent.
