Perhaps you should get a second opinion. If it's infected it could get into the bone. Basing this on my husbands infection in a cut on his foot that went into the bone and cost him his right leg from above the knee.

That is definitely NOT good.

Wrapping her leg worked. She left it alone and the swelling went down quite a bit. When I took the wrap off I saw a lot of infection that the gauze absorbed. The wound wasn't oozing infection any more either. It was bleeding a little bit, but no pus or infection. She is also now walking on it normally and doesn't limp like she was before. Actually, she doesn't limp period now. Definite progress.

I would look into getting some antibiotics for that leg before it gets any worse.

For the Skipper W lines...

I bought a stunning palomino colt a few years ago. Definitely a late bloomer as far as growing goes. By 5 he was jaw dropping beautiful. Heavily muscled but still athletic.

He sure was pretty, but dumb as a rock. I tried for 3 years after starting him on the pattern to get along with him. I absolutely hated him. Thought it was me, so I sent him to a reining trainer first then off to a barrel trainer. I received a phone call after the first week and they told me he won't be a barrel horse. He had absolutely no drive, no work ethic, nothing.

Ended up selling him for a trail horse. Everyone has the certain lines they shy away from. Skipper W/Weiscamp bred horses are that line for me!
