Location: Kansas | If someone wanted to "paint" over some surface rust on a trailer, would using a wire brush to "clean" the area then using implement paint be the best route to go? |

| So I joined a group on FB called horse trailer conversion. There are a lot of posts that discuss grinding rust, the rust converter to use afterwards and the type of primer and paint to use. I have never done any sort of grinding or painting in the past and I was able to get enough info from those posts to do it on my own and it turned out really good!
I grinded the rust off with an angle grinder and steel brush attachment and it worked great. Then I purchased a rust converter (naval jelly I think) and applied to the rusted areas after grinding. I then used primer in those areas and painted the whole trailer. I used rustoleum professional paint and primer. I just used a roller brush and spray paint in the hard to reach areas. Like I said it turned out waaaaay better then I could have imagined. I just sold it for about 1K more then I would have gotten with out the paint job.
So I would use the FB group as a guide they had really great tips. |

Location: Kansas | I'll see if I can find it...not wanting to do entire trailer, just a few areas along the top where the rust is "running" down the trailer lol |

| Like I said before if anyone is thinking of doing any remodeling or work on their trailer the FB group "Horse trailer conversion" was so helpful, I got all of my info off that group site! |

| Check in with some of your welding supply stores and see if they have RUST NO MORE or some simple name like that .... it is green and comes in gallon jugs for around $20 ... used for painting rusty pipe fences ...
It turns your rust black and anodizes it ... then you can paint over it ... with spray cans of paint or a rig ...

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | WINK will remove the rust easy. Spray it on , then wipe it off. Comes in a brown bottle. |

Location: South Central Florida | Gimplers also makes a product that will convert the rust with out sanding or wire brushing. I have used it on bad rust and on minor surfact rust.
Then I prime and paint with sprayer. I love doing stuff like this. |

Location: Phoenix | I saw a video on YouTube and it looks like it was filmed in Japan or Korea or something, but they showed a chrome bumper that had these holes and they were all rusty and they poured Coca-Cola over it and just rubbed it with a rough sponge and after about five minutes the rust was completely gone. I'm not sure if it applies to aluminum but it looked like a chrome bumper to me. I'm probably not very helpful but thought I would mention it ha ha |
