Porta Grazer feeder question

Walt Tharp, the guy who developed the Porta Grazer roughage feeding system was in the audience while I was doing a nutrition seminar at Western States Horse Expo last weekend. After my talk he came up to talk to me about his product and how it seemed to be a good match for the type of diets that I explain are best for all horses. I have not used one of these controlled bite roughage feeders, and wondered if anyone on this board has had experience with one. This is a good concept if they hold up, and work as he says. I would appreciate any feedback.

) and I thought the same thing for my feeding program that and I want to minimize hay waste and they seemed like a good way to do it since I have some hay slinging horses in my barn lol

I personally love slow feeders. I haven't tried the porta grazers but I've used others and my horses always do better with them. They take smaller bites, chew longer and get more out of their hay with less waste.

Walt, the man who developed this was actually two years behind me in the same small town school in Northern CA. I had not seen him in 45 years and really enjoyed the visit. I have seen these, but not used them. I think I will try a few. The process he is using to control bite sized to mimic grazing looks effective enough to normalize chew, saliva, roughage ratio. I think this, along with good teeth and less starch could save a horse owner a lot in ulcer meds.
