Took my mare to the vet on Friday and left her for treatment of cellulitis in the back right leg. I found it swollen Thursday morning so I wrapped it to sweat out the swelling thinking it was just stocked up from the heat and stomping from flies. Found no cuts just a few minor scrapes nothing to be alarmed about. Got home cold water hosed it, stood her on the theraplate, rewrapped it for the night. Friday morning took wrap off still swollen about the same no worse no better, she will walk on it with no limp but will not put weight on it resting. Took her to the vet and they kept her to treat with antibiotics and wrapping/ sweating it out. My question is should I be overly concerned about this I have been reading that this could be very serious. Sorry so long and Thank you!

A better question for your vet, since we the readers really have no idea what is going on.
I know if you catch it early and do aggressive treatment the prognosis is good. I knew a guy whose horse got it from a cut. Her hind leg swelled up from the fetlock to the stifle three times as big as it should have been. He waited around for about a week to take her to the vet, thinking the swelling would just go down. He FINALLY took her when the swelling and heat got so bad the skin split. The vet was able to successfully treat her so I think your horse will be alright.
My sister got it in her finger and she was fine after a course of antibiotics.
From personal experience with my own health issues, don't read to much about a diagnosis. You will scare yourself to death.

If the vet diagnosed with cellulitis, I find from reading on here there are a lot of vets who don't keep horses on antibiotics long enough, IMO.
My vet likes penicillin even though I don't, but I does as he says, I give a double dose twice/day for 2 days then twice day for the first week, then I will go to the long acting every 3 days for 3 doses.
If the horse still has swelling near the end of the second week, I would be contacting the vet.
I also keep any swollen limb wrapped with back on track, as I have had great luck with that.
Speak with your vet on the duration of the antibiotic, and ensure it is a broad spectrum antibiotic, unless they cultured prior to antibiotics
