Β There was a post on this topic not long ago. I'm now looking to get two of my horses done. So called the vet to see how much it is per horse. MINIMUM of $380 and it goes up to $525 per horse! I'm in shock. I think I'm now recovering from a mild heart attack.

THat is rape, and should be punished as such...................

I pay my vet 150 first horse and 100 each additional and includes sedation.

Having said that, vets will charge what people are willing to pay. My farrier shoes horses for the rich and famous as well and charges them 500 a head, he is 110 for me. So I guess if they will pay it so be it..

Dang, I think that's still high.  Guess it depends on what part of the country you're in.  I pay an equine dentist $80 per horse.

YIKES!!!!  I'd expect around $100 per horse and a bit more if there's any complications.  That's insanity!!

My guy travels to me and charges $100/horse, including sedation. No upcharges for any specialty work.

The vets around here get up to $160, charge extra for sedation and if they have to pull any teeth. Plus you have to haul them in or it's a $90 farm call.

Β Lol, I was hoping for more relateable responses! Now I'm just jealous. Lol. I found a guy willing to travel from out of area for $65/head plus +$25 trip charge, but he requires a minimum of 8 horses.

$125 here in WY and at the vet in SD. One power floats, the other uses the hand tools.

I had a vet out to clean my geldings sheath. It looked swollen to me so I figured a good cleaning was likely all he needed.  He charged me $185 I am sure I turned every color red in the rainbow I was so ****ed!!! No antibiotics needed, just a cleaning!!!!!!!!!! I hate to imagine what teeth floating would cost!!!!

Wow, wow, wow!!! That is absurd.

No way would I be able to afford horses if I had to pay those type of prices! My floats are $75-90 depending on where I go.
