Location: Murphy NC | I've seen conflicting information on this. It would be as a fundraiser to our club, which is a non-profit. We are in NC. |

Location: Murphy NC | I'm just wondering if we would be protected like raffles are by the non-profit fundraising rule? I mean, technically we are just raffling off riders, right? |

| It is considered parimutuel wagering and is illegal in some states. You can pretend you do not know this and if you get busted the will arrest everyone involved. |

Where are you having the show?
Honestly, it's up to whoever owns the arena. If it's a State run facility, most likely they won't let you have it. If it's a privately owned arena, that's the owners' call. It comes back on them in the long run. So make sure you clear it with them. Have all your 501c paperwork too if you're going to use the non-profit exception. Just in case they or anyone else would want to see it. |

You are wrong….illegal gambling can be prosecuted whether it be on state or private ground. When you “lease” the grounds, you have released the owner of the facility. Additionally, it becomes public interest when you open the event to the public…… |

Location: Somewhere between S@% stirrer and Saint | The Utah quarter horse racing tried them at the flat track races. It was very successful for one race day. The Mexicans loved it.However some one contacted the attorney generals office and they stopped it. Utah is a no gambling state. So now the Mexican bookies work the crowd and make money under the table.

| Almost all our VA shows used to Calcutta. I had assumed the reason for lack of them in the past couple years was the loss of one of the biggest enthusiasts for the Calcutta. |

| I'm in NC too and I've been to several shows this year with a calcutta. Never had any issues.
I've been to a few that called them "drag auctions" instead of calcutta.
