Expert Posts: 5293	My 10 year old BAY with jet black mane, tail, and forelock is now turning completely grey. In the last month it has gone from jet black to salt and pepper ! Never had a bay horse do this. I've heard of black horses going grey and some sorrel flaxen but never plain bays! I texted the vet just out of curiosity to see what she thought. Lol. He baby sits my colt all the time. Maybe he is aging him. lol

Elite Veteran Posts: 851 Location: West Texas	That is interesting. My understanding is that any color horse can turn grey....but they have to have at least 1 grey parent. If neither of his parents were grey, then he cannot be. We did have one that turned grey very late in life and I believe she was a bay.
