Stress fracture's in people

About 6 years ago I got kicked and fractured both bones in my lower leg. I had a rod placed in it and did really good. About a year after the fracture I began to have a lot of pain about two inches above the fx site. Went to the Ortho and had a couple of stress fx, I was placed in a walking cast and Lower leg sleeve which helped for about 3 weeks. Went back he had no idea what to do since I had a rod in place, the only thing he could find to do after consulting with his partners was to put a bone stimulator on my leg which has not helped at all. My Ortho is one of the best in our area lots of sport injury experience and even teaches at lots of conferences. He has even researched this problem and does not know what to do. My question is has anyone else ever had this problem and what helped you? My sister is his nurse practitioner and he loves her so I know he is doing all he can that is not the problem her.

I have occasional pain at each end of both rods. Can hurt like heck, but it always goes away in less than a day. The most common time is when you move between hot to cold air or the other way around. The metal will minutely contract or expand with the temperature change. That goes away in a few minutes.

Don't know what to tell you... I have a rod in my upper leg from breaking my femur. It hurts with the weather changes.

I have pain at the fx site during weather change but the stress fx are what is bothering me. My Ortho did say I could be developing an allergy to the titanium he said he has heard of that but that usually caused pain not fx. Thanks for the replies.
