| I think in Texas it makes a big difference how long you've been married. I also think there is a clause for "marital misconduct". Definitely need to speak to an attorney who knows specifics--AND gather and keep your proof!! Keep it at a friends house, safe deposit box-someplace safe! |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Hopefully you can get a reference for a good divorce attorney. You need one. He is not being honest now so you can bet he'd be sneaky in a divorce. Get someone on your side in the legal arena.

A very wealthy friend of mine is going through a divorce here in Texas right now. His wife ran off with the horse trainer, had a thing with him for a couple of years before she filed for divorce. She wants half of everything, the ranch, all moneys and the oddest part she wants half of his law firm. He had the firm prior to them being married, and was already rich before they got married (that was the reason she married him in the first place). She has a pit bull of an attorney and it is dragging on. Very odd divorce laws. I just don’t understand how she can get away with any of it.

| Personally, I love how the "no fault" laws protect those who start stepping out, sneaking around and cheating. If you're going to cheat--why not just get a divorce first??? |

Hubby spent a considerable amount of money on his other woman and on porn. Porn alone was in the mid 5-digits over a 5 year period. He'd bought the other a diamond ring, $500 in a fine dining set (for 2), $100 for flowers every week, hotel stays, mini vacations, he also bought things on credit in cards he'd opened in the ex-wife's name. When she caught him in an affair and started going through their bank accounts and financial status just to split it evenly, she discovered he'd destroyed all the statements over that period of time. After she spent $500 to get new statements to pour over, that's when she discovered the massive withdrawal's he made. She presented it all to the courts and got every dime back from him including the cost to get replacment statements. His reimbursment to her is having to be through garnishments since he's refused to pay on his own and landed in court 2 more times over his failure to pay. |

Yes, I agree on the pre-nup - he is the nicest guy you can imagine, and was deeply hurt and surprised when she filed for divorce. Shortly therafter his house burned down. He had/has a very rough year. |

GOOD FOR HER!!! I only wish every marriage that ended because of cheating ended this fairly!!
