Ok guys. I am pretty sold on the CSI but I want all your opinions. I have a short backed sensitive horse and I want to buy something not only of good quality but that will hold up. I also rope and ride in the hills 2-5 hours a day. I have been using a best ever pad that he loves but noticed a lot of break down more quickly than I have before

Also I think 3/4 is probably the right thickness. Would that seem right?

I have a 3/4 and a 1/2"
A lot of people think the csi pads are too bulky as the flex plate adds another 1/4" on so a 3/4 will be an 1" thick and a 1/2 will be 3/4 thick.

I have both and love both, can't decide. I feel like my horse gets way more comfort from the CSI so that's all I've been riding in lately but the 5-star fits a little better under some saddles, it adds a little more bulkiness but I think I went with the thinner version of the CSI because that's what the recommended

I have both and use both. The CSI fits better under one of my saddles and the 5Star fits better under the other. There isn't a one pad fits the best or there wouldn't be so many choices. You need to try each under your saddle.

I agree with Nevertooold.
I recently got a CSI for my young horse. He has a lot of filling out to do and I figured it might help saddles fit him a little longer, I expect to go through a few over the next couple years for him. I love the CSI on him. I bought the pad then the current saddle I have.
On my other horse his saddle fits him so perfectly anything more than my 1/2" 5Star is too much. The saddle rolls terribly with the CSI.
If I ever have to buy him another saddle, I would consider trying to find one that fits well with the CSI though.

I think it depends. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the CSI. I even put my hand under it and tried to smash it with a hammer. I hardly felt it! BUT they are just too thick for my current saddle
(need a 1/2"
) do in that case 5 Star is my first choice.

I have both and love them both! I agree with previous posters that it depends on your saddle fit and what thickness of pad you need.
