| I need advice on how to keep up with a quick snappy little horse. I have just started asking for speed on my long term project. We had been going slow for the past year or so. Asked him for a lot more speed this morning and holy moley he wants to be so snappy. I am not sure I have ever been on such a snappy horse. What are some tips so I don't get in his way. |

Location: North Dakota | finding a saddle that makes you feel secure is #1. A saddle can make or break you! I've been through 3 in the last 18 months.....finally found one that keeps me from riding like a monkey! |

| 1. Invest in a high quality saddle that truly fits you and your horse.
2. Start a running program, include floor excercises such as pilates. Sets basic lunges, squats, and jumping jacks are amazing to get your legs back, sit ups, push ups. A weight program if you can access one. I personally like Couch to 5K for running. Super gentle and amazing results.
3. You'll be simply amazed how much better your riding will be after just a few weeks of consistent working out.

Location: North Dakota | My horse is powerful coming out of his turns so I have to sit deep, hunch over (act like someone punched you in the belly button type hunch) and wait for that stride that helps me come up and out of the saddle naturally. If I sit too straight or not deep enough I get whipped like a rag doll. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Great advice and as far as the pilates, I'd try the Reformer type as holding a plank with a long clean stretched line may make your core strong but it needs to also know how to do that same thing while it is moving forward, sideways, backwards, etc. while strapped to a 1300lb fire cracker. You need to make that strong core explosive also as well as your legs, your core can't hold you in place if your legs get loosened up. |
